Blackman Street

Richmond Terrace;

The question is which would we prefer??  The Richmond Terrace prevents broken number plates but restricts the amount of motorcycles and scooters that can actually park.  Blackman Street can, damage rear number plates but is less restrictive.

Whilst this is not fore front in our mind the Blackman Street style makes it a lot easier for the councils and authorities to maintain the roads and streets.  As it these people we are asking to install these we do need to consider their requirments as well.

We now have a good level of signatures and with the results from the poll linked to this website we have a good case for requesting the security to motorcycle bays. 

What we do need is know what to ask for.  So can you please look at these styles and let us know by voting below;

We all know how the harmonisation of Europe can mean we are all affected by the decisions of one Member State.

It’s bad enough when the EU Commission decide we’ll all have compulsory ABS or not be permitted to change our tyres, sprockets or air filters, as with the new anti-tampering Regulation, but our friends across the Channel have just been hit with a raft of legislation that can indeed affect us almost immediately, but may well do so in the near future.

French legislators have decided that motorcyclists should compulsorily wear dayglo and reflective clothing.
They also want to see immediate jail terms for those caught doing more than 30mph over the speed limit and larger numberplates for bikes so that they can be more easily prosecuted.
There are a raft of other things and remember France went ahead with the 100bhp limit back in the 90′s, but not surprisingly, the French riding community aren’t best pleased and are arranging a mass day of action for June 18th.

MAG is already planning to demonstrate its displeasure at the EU Regulation with a Demo in Leeds 28th May and at the Brum Demo 2nd July, but keep your ear to the ground for news of possible co-ordinated action across Europe on the 18th. Maybe it’s time we did something on the South Coast?

Motorcycles increase efficient use of land by occupying less road space, particularly in parking areas where up to 7 motorcycles can occupy one car space. However a recent survey by the National Crime Intelligence Service showed that more motorcycles are stolen in the UK than are bought new & £3m worth of bikes are stolen in the UK every month.

This being the case we would welcome your signature to support our proposal to Brighton & Hove Council to supply physical security in a key number of bays, to increase the number of bays & to undertake an audit of all current bays which will highlight bike capacity, location & bay dimensions & update their leaflet accordingly.
